Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand), India
Dhoni attended DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, where he excelled in multiple sports, including football and badminton, before focusing on cricket.
Dhoni began his professional cricket career in the early 2000s. He first played for the Bihar team in the Ranji Trophy in 1999-2000
Dhoni debuted in ODIs against Bangladesh in December 2004. Despite a slow start, he displayed his potential with a stunning 148 against Pakistan in April 2005.
He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in December 2005 and became a mainstay in all formats. Dhoni was known for his calm demeanor, strategic acumen, and exceptional wicketkeeping skills.
In 2007, Dhoni was appointed captain of the Indian T20 team for the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa, where he led the team to victory
His success as a captain continued as he was appointed the ODI and Test captain later that year.
Under Dhoni's leadership, India achieved several significant milestones such as-
ICC Champions Trophy 2013: India triumphed under his captaincy, making him the first captain to win all three ICC trophies.
Test Success: Under Dhoni, India reached the number one position in the ICC Test rankings for the first time in December 2009.
Dhoni played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from its inception in 2008.
