BIOGRAPHY OF MANU BHAKER

Manu Bhaker was born on 18th February 2002 in Goria village of Jhajjar district, Haryana, India.

Manu Bhaker's father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, a chief engineer in the Merchant Navy, introduced her to sports early on. Before shooting, she excelled in boxing, martial arts, and skating.

At 14, Bhaker chose to focus on shooting, with her father investing ₹1,50,000 to support her pursuit of competitive shooting.

Won a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, in the 10m air pistol event, becoming the youngest Indian to win a gold medal in the World Cup.

In 2018, she secured two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, in the 10m air pistol individual and mixed team events.

In February 2019, Manu Bhaker won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Delhi.

She won the team gold for India in the women's 25m pistol team event at the 2022 Asian Games, alongside Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan.

At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Bhaker won two bronze medals.  She secured bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event, becoming the first female shooter from India to win an Olympic medal.

She won another bronze medal in the mixed 10m air pistol team event at the 2024 Summer Olympics, partnering with her teammate Sarabjot Singh.

She became the first Indian to win two medals at a single Olympics since India's independence.

Manu Bhaker, India’s two-time Olympic medalist in shooting, has been selected as the flag bearer for India at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

She has received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2020 for her contributions to Indian sports.

Manu Bhaker is likely to receive the Khel Ratna and Padma awards before she turns 23, given her impressive achievements in shooting.
