MOST RECENT CYCLONES IN INDIA

Tauktae, a severe cyclonic storm, made landfall on Gujarat in May 2021. It caused widespread damage to coastal areas and heavy rainfall across Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.

Cyclone Yaas struck Odisha and West Bengal in May 2021. It brought torrential rains, strong winds, and significant coastal flooding, causing widespread displacement.

In September 2021, Cyclone Gulab hit Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It triggered heavy rains, leading to flash floods, landslides, and extensive damage to homes and agriculture.

Cyclone Jawad formed in December 2021, impacting Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. While it weakened significantly before landfall, it caused heavy rains and mild coastal flooding.

Though Cyclone Amphan primarily impacted Bangladesh, its remnants caused heavy rainfall and high winds over Odisha and West Bengal in May 2020.

Asani formed in the Bay of Bengal in March 2022 and weakened before impacting the eastern Indian coast, causing moderate rainfall and some localized flooding.

Though Cyclone Fani's remnants dissipated before entering India in May 2019, the eastern coast experienced heavy rainfall and gusty winds, particularly in Odisha.

Cyclone Vayu, which formed over the Arabian Sea, approached the Gujarat coast in June 2019. It caused significant rainfall but veered away before making landfall.

Biparjoy formed in June 2023, affecting Gujarat with strong winds and heavy rains. It caused minor coastal flooding and disruption in fishing activities.

Cyclone Tej developed over the Bay of Bengal in August 2023, and while it weakened before hitting land, it triggered moderate rainfall and localized flooding in Odisha.

Cyclone Mandous impacted Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in July 2022, causing heavy downpours, flooding, and disruption of essential services in several coastal areas.

Phailin affected Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in Oct 2013, with severe winds and rain, damaging infrastructure and disrupting livelihoods.

Remal is the most recent cyclone, which affected the West Bengal and Bangladesh in may, 2024.
